Awareness of girls and women with bleeding disorders
Our Mission

A place to share the journey of girls and women with bleeding disorders.

What are bleeding disorders? Some people were born with blue eyes and some with brown eyes. Some were born with blonde hair and some with black hair. The color of eyes or the color of hair are inherited and are considered genetic traits. That is the case with hemophilia and bleeding disorders. Some people were born with blood that clots quickly after they cut themselves, and some people were born with blood that takes a very long time to clot or even with blood that does not clot at all.

This website is dedicated to those girls and women who were born with blood that clots very slowly, or not at all. They are girls and women who have bleeding disorders. A girl or a woman with a bleeding disorder sometimes endures tremendous pain from her bleeding episodes. She must develop the strength and wisdom to know exactly what she needs to do during her bleeding episode. She is a self advocate. If she is an infant, or when she is very young she has a caregiver who does these things for her until she is old enough to speak for herself. These girls and women also depend on a variety of medical, pharmaceutical and support organizations to help her learn about special things she must do and to provide her with the special products she needs to make her blood clot.

Who is interested in this website? Whether you are a girl or a woman with hemophilia or a bleeding disorder, a caregiver, a medical professional who has patients who are girls or women with bleeding disorders, or just someone who has an interest in this area, please consider sharing your journey.

We hold periodic creative arts contests. We want to publish your creativity, whether it comes out through your stories, poems or artwork. If you are willing, we want to show your smiles to the world. Your creativity will empower other girls and women who will benefit from knowing what other girls do if their blood doesn't clot "normally". For contest rules, and HIPAA notice (of privacy), please send a note to: mygirlsblood@yahoo.com
