Barbara A. Konkle, MD

We are excited to present Barbara A. Konkle, MD, Director of Translational Research and Medical Director of the Hemostasis Reference Laboratory, (PSBC) and Professor of Medicine, Division of Hematology, at the University of Washington.

Dr. Konkle has been involved in research and clinical care related to hemophilia, Von Willebrand disease and other bleeding disorders for over 25 years. A major focus of her work has been in Von Willebrand disease and the effects of bleeding and clotting disorders in women.

Suzanne Swietnicki,MD, an Obstetrician/Gynecologist at Northern Montana Hospital and Clinical Instructor at the University of Washington's School of MedicineDept OB/GYN. Dr. Swietnicki will offer insight and awareness of gynecologic and obstetric manifestations of bleeding disorders. She will provide tips on how to talk to your own gynecologist.

Teens and preteens have an afternoon session with Dr. Danielle Nance, of the Puget Sound Blood Center (PSBC). She will dive into issues they are dealing with at this point in their life.

Barb Forss
is the Executive Director and Founder of the LadyBugs Foundation: www.ladybugsfoundation.org, serving women with bleeding disorders.  She gave our luncheon presentation on LadyBugs+You= Empowerment, an inspirational talk that encourages women to take care of themselves in every day ways.

Barb has Factor VII deficiency and suffered from bleeding episodes for 47 years before being correctly diagnosed. She has spoken extensively in the U.S. and abroad about the need for early diagnosis and treatment for women and girls with bleeding disorders.
